I finished another rug. This time I wove chevron stripes in white and flat cold gray. I like the color combo a lot. To me it´s just right.
The rug measures about 185cm (73″) in lenght and 68cm (27″) in widht. It has found a place in front of my wardrobe but let´s now discuss about this location. Isn´t it totally awesome? I saw this burned-down clothing factory a long time ago from a bus window and I knew I had to see it. It´s the best find ever. Rust, black wood, industrial machines everywhere. It even has a small pond in the middle of the junk. Oh, and the light. Overcast day and only walls reflecting the light. Beautiful location to take pictures.
I kind of matched this rug for the red one I made previously. Both have the fringes and they´re the same size.
But they have different treadling so the pattern is a little shorter (in height).
Here´s me with my rug telling R how to take my (self-)portrait. Of course it doesn´t work that way…
This rug is one those projects that was so easy to do even though I didn´t have a plan. I just sat behind my loom and sort of continued where I was left off with the previous one. My only task was to weave the remains of the warp but I ended up making better rug than the first one.
At the moment I have dressed my loom with a new warp with two finished rugs intact (because I weave the whole warp before unraveling all). I am making something different but sticking with the zig-zags. But I am afraid this chevron pattern is the one for me. I am sure I will return to this and continue where I was left off.
Ummm, what a bizarre day! Yesterday I didn´t woke up at my home because I decided to rent it whole March for three japanese dancers. This decicion was made on Sunday morning and I quickly moved out by nightfall. Monday we continued our plaster work at the local arts academy. I feel a little bit disconnected even though everything is fine.
Today the surprises kept coming on. I was up early in the morning to head for two Swedish courses I am taking. Apparently it´s winter break now and didn´t know about it. But I think I didn´t go there for nothing because I found out that in the afternoon there´s some kind of seminar on The Smiths, Kraftwerk and Peter Gabriel. I will have to check that out, because as a Smiths fan, I am also addicted to talk about them. After that I will catch a ferry to Stockholm (Sweden). I am taking a holiday trip there. Looking forward to it!
So many things happening.
