I love wool. This wool is for my mittens. This pyramid weighs about 2,5 kilos.
Here´s socks in progress knit with Kaffe Fassett´s line of yarn. I admire his eye for colors and patterns a lot.
I made this DIY solution for creating better rug swatches. I didn´t have patience to order a miniloom since I had to make a sample from a weave pattern in order to understand the treadling. So I bought a painting frame and some nails and voilà!
Heathered greys are the best, aren´t they? It´s a perfect combination of colour and texture.
I bought scissors with spring mechanism for cutting up my fabrics. Goodbye blisters!
Making more crochet mittens. It´s been a while since I did crochet. Too long in fact.
Knit mittens that are to be felted. I seem to stock up many pairs before I get started with felting. Perhaps because it´s the roughest part.

P.S I renewed my blog layout a bit. I moved the captions to the right of the pictures. Please let me know if it´s not working properly. Thanks.

I really like the new layout. I feel very confortable reading the captions this way.

It must be adorable to live surrounded by such beautiful wool. :)

      thank you for the feedback.

actually wool gathers a lot of dust so at times it can also be frustrating having all these fibers around the house. but nothing beats the shimmer of wool, it´s very pleasing to my eye.

  2. Plenty of yarn and plenty of love. Love to those who get to carry the creations!

What is it about looking at yarn that makes you feel so good?

    • Niina Niina says:

Hila, what a difficult question! If I was to theorize this (as I have in several essays previously for my studies) I find myself in complex web of of nostalgia, women´s work and (un)heimlich territories. I think you know where this is leading but how do I connect to all of that? In which way?
But if I take this as simple question I could just answer it appeals to my sense of beauty which is based on functional (very scandinavian) natural aesthetics but it wouldn´t be the whole truth. This remains a question unsolved on so many levels. And will I ever settle on for an answer?
